John Cena vs. Baron Corbin

What we learned: We learned here that Baron Corbin still really likes to yell. He was yelling at Cena and yelling at the crowd and it really got annoying after about 15 seconds. I would just tell him to save it for Twitter, but apparently his tweeting is what made him lose his briefcase last week and likely what made him lose as bad as he did on Sunday night.

As for how we got there, the match itself was really nothing spectacular and went down pretty much as I expected it to. Corbin got a little momentum going and I will say that the choke slam into the backbreaker was solid enough but that was about the extent of good offense from The Lone Wolf. He went to the well one too many times with sliding out of the ring and then sliding back in for a clothesline, which may be even slower than the one that Dean Ambrose does when he goes through the ropes.

As for Cena, he took in all the crowd noise as he always does when he was introduced to kick off the main show, which was a smart move. I still would have gone with The New Day and The Usos to get the show rolling, but that’s just me. This wasn’t Cena’s best work and the match was really flat and predictable.

What’s next: With Corbin seemingly in a bit of trouble backstage, it’s hard to say where he goes from here. He likely won’t be in the WWE Championship picture anytime soon and may have to build back up the momentum that he’s lost in the last week. That could take some time. Perhaps a losing streak causes him to snap after a month or two, but we’ve seen that in the last year from Dolph Ziggler and that clearly didn’t work for him and he’s a much better worker than Corbin. As for Cena, he seems to be on his way to Monday nights, and I see a program with Samoa Joe in his future.
