Ever since the report came out that the Bulls were close to buying out Dwyane Wade, many speculated that Wade would join the Cavaliers. It looks like he might pretty soon.

The Chicago Bulls decided they were headed for a rebuild as soon as they parted ways with Jimmy Butler and Rajon Rondo. It signaled a youth movement for the franchise, which left aging veteran Dwyane Wade on the outside.

Wade had come back home to the Bulls last season to make one last ditch effort for an NBA Championship — but also to rub it in Pat Riley’s face. But since the direction of the team has changed, the Bulls decided they would buy out Wade’s contract at some point during the season.

Naturally, there were a few landing spots that made sense if Wade hit the open market. A return to Miami to finish out his career made sense. But a pit stop in Cleveland to join forces with Banana Boat buddy LeBron James also seemed logical.

According to Cleveland.com’s Joe Vardon, LeBron James’ camp expects Dwyane Wade to join the Cavaliers at some point during the season. Here’s the full quote from Vardon, who went on the Wine and Gold Podcast  to drop this information:

"As of right now, people close to James are fairly confident that, at some point this year, Dwyane Wade is going to end up on the Cavs."

By camp, Vardon referred to James’ wife, Savannah, Maverick Carter, Rich Paul and Adam Mendelsohn.

This would certainly make things interesting in Cleveland, who are currently trying to figure out what to do with Kyrie Irving and the rest of the roster to compete with Golden State.

Wade to Cleveland doesn’t tilt the scales in favor of the Cavaliers in a potential NBA Finals’ four-match, but it certainly makes for some interesting storylines.

If Wade did make his way to Northeast Ohio, does Carmelo Anthony change his mind and want to go to Cleveland to make the Banana Boat even stronger? We must wait and see.
