NBA 2K18 Classic teams allow fans to relive hardwood memories

Fans who would like to create epic historical matches like pitting the 1995-1996 Miami Heat against the 2009-2010 Dallas Mavericks will get their chance to do so in NBA 2K18.

NBA fans wondering what would have happened if the 2006-07 Denver Nuggets, featuring Carmelo Anthony and Allen Iverson, faced the 1997-98 New York Knicks with Patrick Ewing and John Starks, wonder no longer. NBA 2K18 Classic teams will provide some answers.

NBA 2K18 has been revealing the 16 new classic teams which will be part of the game over the past week on Twitter, and the final tally presents an attractive list of squads for gamers.

Altogether, 14 different NBA franchises are represented spanning the last two decades. While several of the teams were NBA champions, most of them represent teams who fell short of that ultimate goal but nonetheless boasted star power at historic levels.

For fans, the addition of these teams allows them to explore what might have been. What if the 2010-11 Oklahoma City Thunder, stacked with Kevin Durant, James Harden, Serge Ibaka and Russell Westbrook, had kept that roster together? What if the 2012-13 Indiana Pacers had been able to take Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals in Miami instead of losing by one point? What if the New Jersey (now Brooklyn) Nets and Sacramento Kings faced each other in the 2001 NBA Finals?

The final privilege that these teams afford gamers is that of controlling current and future Hall of Fame players like Tim Duncan, Ewing and Iverson along with possibly forgotten players like Mike Bibby, Peja Stojakovic and Jason Terry.
