The first of two LSU Tigers in our top 10, Arden Key heads into his junior season after an incredible 2016 campaign last year. Key followed up an incredible freshman year in 2015 by being named a first team All-SEC selection, and he could be even better in 2017. The former freshman All-American is as explosive a player as there is in college football, and will key a very good LSU defense this season.

While LSU fans can look forward to him playing this season,Ā  he did give the fans a scare this offseason. Key took a leave of absence from the team this offseason, but is back with the team, though his health is still in question. He is still working back from shoulder surgery this offseason as well, and it is unknown as to whether he will be available for the team’s season opener against BYU.

That is good news for BYU’s quarterbacks, as Key is certain to rack up his fair share of sacks this season. A hybrid defensive end/outside linebacker, Key has first round talent, and is certain to be a top pick in the 2018 NFL Draft if he decides to come out early. LSU has the talent to compete in the SEC this season, but they are going to need a healthy Key if they hope to be dominant on defense.

The Tigers will have Ed Orgeron as their head coach full time in 2017, as he took over for the fired Les Miles during last season. With players like Key and running back Derrius Guice, Orgeron has two of the best players in college football, but he is going to need some inexperienced players to step up. Key is going to lead this defense, and the LSU coaches are going to use him all over the field in 2017.
