New Orleans Saints: Reggie Bush
This was another tough decision to make, and it’s one where overall ratings needed to be thrown out of the window because of just how fun Reggie Bush was to play with when you threw on Madden on whatever gaming console you played with.
Drew Brees is likely the obvious option to pick if you were asked about the best Madden player in New Orleans Saints history, or even the franchise’s best player ever. However, when you’re playing a game of Madden, it’s a lot more fun to have a guy like Bush to use than a quarterback that’s best when he’s stuck in the pocket delivering strikes.
Bush was a highly hyped up addition to Madden when he was drafted before the 2007 edition of the game dropped, and he was so highly talked up that he earned an unprecedented 87 overall rating in his first appearance in the franchise. His speed was amazing, and he was a threat on both offense and special teams for the Saints, especially during his first two years in the league.
You could throw Bush in as a kick returner, use him in the backfield for carries or split him out as a wide receiver for Brees to throw bombs to. He was all over the place, and topped out as an 89 overall in 2008.
He may not have been as highly rated as Brees, who consistently found himself in the 90s for his overall rating, but Bush was the perfect, most exciting player to have on your roster if you played Madden.
