Tigers, Yankees get involved in wild brawl (Video)
The New York Yankees and the Detroit Tigers were playing a peaceful afternoon game when a fight broke out between Miguel Cabrera and Austin Romine.
The Detroit Tigers and New York Yankees are in the middle of a four-game set in Detroit. The first two games went to the road team, with the Yankees easily handing the Tigers two losses by a combined margin of 17 runs.
The anger must have been building up on the Tigers’ side when Miguel Cabrera unleashed on Austin Romine in the bottom of the sixth inning. With two outs, no runners on base, Cabrera was up at the plate. After a ball was called, words were exchanged between the Yankees’ catcher and Tigers’ slugger.
Immediately, Romine took off his mask and you could start to see the argument escalate between the two. Next thing you know, Cabrera shoves Romine and the brawl ensues. Miguel puts up a 1-2 punch and all of a sudden the benches are clearing.
Pitchers and catchers from the bullpen are sprinting all the way to the scene of the brawl near home plate. Cabrera and Romine end up at the bottom of the brawl, throwing punches and getting dragged.
The Tigers and Yankees have had bad blood between them, dating back to what happened in New York with Gary Sanchez. It seems like that animosity between the two sides has carried all the way to Detroit.

Baseball brawls or fights usually don’t include a lot of punches. There’s a bunch of pushing and shoving, but it rarely gets to be this bad. It seemed like Cabrera and Romine squared up like Conor McGregor and Floyd Mayweather will this weekend in Las Vegas.
As expected, Cabrera and Romine were ejected from the game by the umpires for their involvement in the brawl. Stay tuned for suspension announcements, if they do in fact get suspended.
