Mitchell Robinson’s latest and more in our new recruiting roundup.

College basketball recruiting continues to plug along as we head towards the 2017-18 season. The majority of the action revolves around players in the Class of 2018, but figuring out what’s going to happen with the last remaining prize of the Class of 2017, Mitchell Robinson remains a talking point.

Robinson and all, here’s a look at the biggest recruiting headlines from the week that was.

Mitchell Robinson rules out New Orleans, unlikely to play next season

The 5-star prospect and one remaining piece to fall into place from the Class of 2017 eliminated the University of New Orleans from consideration after a lengthy meeting with head coach Mark Slessinger on Monday.

Given that it seems the only likely path for Robinson to play college basketball this season would involve returning to Western Kentucky, it’s not a surprise that Yahoo Sports’ Pat Forde reported on Tuesday that the 7-footer is unlikely to play this season and will instead likely spend the year preparing for the 2018 NBA Draft.

Immanuel Quickley cuts Maryland, down to three

5-star point guard Immanuel Quickley told CSN Mid-Atlantic that he had cut the Maryland Terrapins from his final list on Wednesday night. It is the latest local recruiting miss for the Terrapins as head coach Mark Turgeon also missed out on Prentiss Hubb and Brandon Slater recently.

Quickley has long been seen as destined for Kentucky, but his quotes about the lack of communication from the Maryland staff likely won’t make the team’s fans feel very good. “They haven’t contacted me as much. So it only makes sense to go forward with those three,” he said.

The talented guard also spoke about what he likes about the remaining programs on his list, highlighting player development at Kansas, the coaching staff at Miami and the pull of playing for John Calipari.

Keldon Johnson visits Kentucky, sets two more officials

5-star wing Keldon Johnson took an unofficial visit to Kentucky this week. He told Scout that he was able to sit down with Calipari to discuss his potential role in the program.

The 6-foot-5 recruit has already set up official visits to Texas and Florida State for the start of September. He mentioned the relationship he has with the Longhorns’ coaching staff and the Seminoles’ development of wings as reasons he’s interested in the two schools.

Jordan Brown announces top seven, transfer to Prolific Prep

Jordan Brown, a top 15 prospect in the Class of 2018, has locked down his final list of seven schools, including California, Gonzaga, Louisiana Lafayette, Nevada, Oregon, St. John’s and UCLA. Brown’s father told Zags Blog that the player will take official visits during September and October as he settles into school at Prolific Prep.

Emmitt Williams names a top seven

5-star forward Emmitt Williams announced via Twitter that he’s down to seven schools, including Duke, Florida, Kansas, LSU, Miami, Oregon and USC. The Ducks are the early favorites to land the 6-foot-7 recruit, according to 247Sports’ Crystal Ball.

Scout debates the biggest sleeper in the Class of 2018

Scout’s recruiting analysts named their biggest sleepers in the Class of 2018 this week. Evan Daniels, Brian Snow and Josh Gershon landed on Feron Hunt, Jaxson Hayes and Logan Johnson as the players who might be being undervalued in recruiting rankings.
