The Ottawa Redblacks got a much-needed win against Hamilton to move two points within a playoff position in the East division. The BC Lions have lost three of their past four games to slip to fourth in the West standings.
Ottawa picked up just their second win against Hamilton behind a great performance by quarterback Trevor Harris and receiver Greg Ellingson. Harris leads the league in passing yards and touchdowns, while Ellingson has the most receiving yards and touchdowns. Along with Brad Sinopoli, Ottawa will continue to look to the air to move the football. Defensively, the Redblacks have struggled this season, allowing 27.4 points per game. If Ottawa is going to make a playoff push, they need to improve on defense.
The Lions quarterback controversy refuses to go away. Head coach Wally Buono continues to stand behind Jonathan Jennings, who was excellent last season but has struggled this season. When Jennings missed time with a shoulder injury, former starter Travis Lulay stepped in and was an improvement on Jennings, leading the Lions to win in three of the four games he played in. If Jennings does not improve his play, Buono might consider putting Lulay back in. Defensively, the Lions are getting another great season from Solomon Elimimian, who leads the league in tackles.
