Although many fans thought the fight was even through a good portion of the bout, two judges gave Conor McGregor just one round over Floyd Mayweather.

The bout between Conor McGregor and Floyd Mayweather had a ton of hype going along with it heading into the fight, but many believed it could turn into a massacre by the previously 49-0 boxing legend.

However, the UFC champion McGregor pulled off an impressive performance against Mayweather on Saturday night, and actually started off the fight strong enough for many to believe he was winning through the first three or four rounds.

While many analysts and fans had the fight insanely close through nine rounds before Mayweather finished McGregor off with a finish in the 10th round, the official judges apparently didn’t want to give McGregor that much credit in their official scorecards.

In the scorecards, one judge had McGregor winning the first three rounds, before Mayweather turned things around and won the next six. However,. two other judges ruled it incredibly in Mayweather’s favor, with McGregor taking just the first round before Mayweather took the next eight.

It’s a bit surprising to see, especially considering the lack of punches thrown from the boxing great through the first few rounds as he waited for McGregor to tire himself out. However, the fight came down to a decision, so it’s tough to worry too much about the scorecards, anyway.

It would’ve been interesting to see how things would’ve played out if the bout had gone the full distance, as the judges likely would’ve had Mayweather winning by a huge amount, and fans likely would’ve been in complete shock at the scorecards.

In the end, as many in combat sports say, you never want to leave it to the referees (or judges), and Mayweather didn’t want to have his guarantee fall through in the end.
