Tarvarus McFadden

CB, Florida State

The amount of talent that Florida State has on the defensive side of the ball should be criminal. Considering they already have the most dynamic defensive player in the nation with Derwin James at safety, Tarvarus McFadden adds to that at the cornerback spot.

As a large cornerback with plenty of talent, McFadden is going to be one of the first off the board in the 2018 NFL Draft. He gets plenty of interceptions and his length allows him to end up with several passes defensed as well.

Plenty of interceptions may as well be an understatement. He had a whopping eight on the season to go with six passes broken up. With his size, throwing at him was just a bad decision by any quarterback he faced.

In 2017, it’s going to be interesting to see how opposing quarterbacks challenge him. He might not get the same opportunities if teams start throwing away from him. That just means he’s effectively taken away the other team’s top weapon.

More importantly, his size doesn’t get in the way of how fast he is. He’s able to stay with his man and that pretty much eliminates a target for the quarterback because of how long he is. Having a cornerback that can effectively shut down one half of the field makes the job of the defense a lot easier.
