It was a fantastic week for Liverpool, yet another terrible week for Arsenal and Manchester United keep on winning. Here are five things we learned from the third weekend of the Premier League.

The third week of the new Premier League season featured a lackluster Saturday but was capped off by a thrilling 4-0 Liverpool win over Arsenal on Sunday. Manchester United dominated again, Chelsea beat Everton at Stamford Bridge and West Ham and Crystal Palace have entered full crisis mode.

Liverpool obliterate Arsenal in 4-0 rout

Liverpool fans have reason to rejoice as the Premier League heads into the two-week international break. Taking into account their dominating performance over Hoffenheim in the Champions League playoff, it’s safe to say this has been a fantastic start to the season.

Against Arsenal, Liverpool looked like the most energized, confident version of themselves, mixing up periods of ball possession with piercing counter-attacks and high pressure on the ball. There was little hesitation in the Reds’ game. They were strong in the tackle, passed the ball with conviction and showed all the marks of a confident team.

Just as rumors surrounding Philippe Coutinho’s future at the club continue to swirl, the Reds looked to have found the magic formula. Evidently, this formula doesn’t depend on the diminutive Brazilian. Adam Lallana will also be returning to supplement the ranks of Liverpool’s attacking midfielders, which raises the question of where Coutinho will be in three days time when the transfer deadline passes.

Liverpool are one defensive lapse in the last minute of the game against Watford away from a perfect start to their season. The game against Arsenal indicates Jurgen Klopp has created a true title contender.
