Christian Laettner
PF/C Duke

When most people think of college basketball history, Christian Laettner’s name certainly comes up. Outside of Duke fans though, Laettner is perhaps the most infamous college player of all time. Known for seeming cocky during most games, or being a dirty player who got away with a lot of no-calls, we can’t deny how dominant he was whenever he took the floor. Laettner is perhaps the most accomplished college basketball player of all-time, winning two National Championships, and winning essentially every individual award a college basketball player can be nominated for. He stands at 6-foot-11 and hit some of the most clutch shots in the history of college basketball,. He was easily the best player on a Duke team that absolutely dominated college basketball during his time there.

Laettner also showed some major improvements in his outside shooting during his senior season, which in part helped him average 21.5 points per game that year. His size and scoring ability would be a great fit in today’s NBA, and he was also a solid rebounder to add to it. He has the ability to get steals and blocks with his quick hands and long wingspan, which makes him more versatile on the defensive end. Although he is a very crafty player, he may struggle at times keeping up with more athletic players, but certainly has the tools to adjust.
