FOX Sports made some pretty big hires official on Tuesday with the additions of former coaches Les Miles and Mark Helfrich
FOX Sports continues to make hires as they try to boost their college football presence even further this season, and on Tuesday they announced some pretty high-profile additions to their college football family. During the afternoon it was announced that former LSU Tigers head coach Les Miles and former Oregon Ducks head coach Mark Helfrich will be joining the FOX crew this season as in-game analysts.
This move, of course, comes on the heels of the recent announcement that former ESPN college football personality and former Florida State Seminoles quarterback Danny Kanell was joining the FOX Sports family as well.

Miles had spent 11 seasons as the head coach down in Baton Rouge, but he would not make it through a 12th. Already entering the season on the hot seat, Miles was removed from his position as head coach after just four games, following a loss to the Auburn Tigers. He was replaced by assistant and now permanent head coach of the Tigers, Ed Orgeron.
Being one of the more likable personalities in all of college football, when it was clear Miles would not be in the coaching ranks this season, everyone has been dreaming of seeing him on our televisions every Saturday as an analyst. This move makes that dream come true.
Helfrich spent four seasons as the head coach of Oregon, taking over after Chip Kelly left for the NFL. Behind quarterback Marcus Mariota and a host of other talented players, Helfrich would even lead Oregon to a National Championship Game appearance following the 2014 season, losing to the Ohio State Buckeyes. After a lackluster 4-8 effort in 2016, the Ducks decided to move on from Helfrich and have since hired Willie Taggart to run things in Eugene.
It’s unfortunate that these two coaches weren’t able to find another position in the college football coaching game, but these are two, big-time hires for FOX and they’ll be a joy to watch all season — especially Miles, who will be paired with veteran Tim Brando and Spencer Tillman.
