As we noted in the weekly news roundup, there are some “pesky” rumors that Beyonce is in line to sing the theme song for Bond 25. Though EON productions has not confirmed these reports (er, rumors) two major music publications have picked up the story and run with it: NME (out of the UK) and Billboard magazine, here in the U.S.
But as soon as Billboard’s report went live, a rep for Beyonce sent the publication a response:
“This is a rumor.”

Winter is Coming
OK. Case closed. Nothing to see here. Right? Billboard attributed its report to a story in NME. And NME had attributed its report to a story, based on inside sources, in The Daily Star, a British tabloid.
However, The Daily Star did apparently (maybe? possibly?) contact MGM for comment. An anonymous executive noted the following:
"“To tie-up a deal with Beyoncé for a theme song for Daniel’s fifth appearance as 007 would really be the icing on the cake.”"
The James Bond fan website, MI6, has reported the story as “Tabloid Trash,” noting that the MGM executive in question is likely not real, for he or she would know that the filming on Bond 25 is not set to begin for at least a year. “But nobody will call out The Daily Star for lying,” their report states.
Nevertheless, Beyonce’s appearance would be an Austin Powers / James Bond crossover. She played Foxy Cleopatra in Austin Powers in Goldmember.
For now, let’s just cool our jets on this story and see if it has wings of its own.
As always, thanks for reading! Check back for updates.
