Top five puzzling picks for the NBA 2K18 All-Time rosters

For the first time in franchise history, NBA 2K18 will include each NBA team’s All-Time squad. Which players included in these rosters should have missed the cut?

NBA 2K has long pulled at the nostalgic heartstrings of fans by including classic teams in the game. NBA 2K11, which was a pivotal installment in the development of the 2K franchise, featured Michael Jordan on the cover and included essentially every notable team that Jordan played for or against. 2K12 expanded the list of classic teams substantially and each installment since has included new sets of old school teams.

As 2K junkies eagerly await the September release of 2K18, the game’s developers have been steadily revealing numerous key features and new additions to the wildly successful series. For the first time in the history of the franchise 2K18 will feature All-Time rosters, which include 15 man squads for all 30 franchises in the league.

The All-Time roster (courtesy of Dime Magazine) has a number of puzzling inclusions and omissions within it. Some of these are understandable; many legends of the game like Charles Barkley refuse to allow 2K to profit off of their likeness. Even so, there are many guys on the All-Time roster that probably did not deserve to make the 15-man list for their respective teams.

Let’s keep in mind a few simple criteria as we think about which players not have made the cut: a team’s all-time roster should include not only its best and most talented players, but also guys that have a real connection with the franchise. That could mean that they played on a specific team for a long time, or that they had a ton of success there in a relatively short period of time. Beloved role players and lower level stars have a place here too, provided that they don’t appear at the expense of any legendary or more deserving players of course!
