The Chargers and 49ers have had relatively weak preseasons so far, and they’ll each look to end things on a more positive note heading into the regular season.

The San Francisco 49ers are close to matching their entire regular season win total from 2016 in this preseason, so that’s pretty telling about how weird this game really is as we prepare to dive into the 2017 season next week.

The 49ers are going to have a rough year ahead of them with their current roster of talent, which is to be expected when Brian Hoyer is your starting quarterback. Now, they just have to try and survive one more preseason game, and maybe squeak out a win to finish the month of August with a 2-2 record, and head into the regular season with the tiniest bit of momentum.

On the other end, the Los Angeles Chargers, formerly of San Diego, are looking to ring in the new year in their new home by heading into the regular season with some success in their back pocket. They’re just 1-2 as well through the first three games of the preseason, and almost need this win just to ensure that casual fans in L.A. don’t think of them as a failure before the regular season even starts.

The two teams won’t be seen on any national television, so if you’re out of their respective markets in California, you’ll have to be an NFL Game Pass subscribe if you want to watch this action to get your fix before the regular season starts.
