Prediction: Bruins win an ugly one

Nothing about this game gives off the vibe that it’s going to be a scoring fest. Both teams have huge question marks coming into this opener on Sunday. Rosen is coming off a shoulder injury and the Aggies have their own question mark at quarterback after the departure of Trevor Knight.

Although this game was one of the better ones in the early portion of last season and has a primetime slot this time around in California, it’s likely going to be a sloppy one. Not only is it the first game of the season for both teams, neither team is lined up to be that good in each of their conferences this year.

UCLA is a forgotten thought in the Pac-12 behind a new-look Oregon bunch, the hype-filled Trojans of USC and Washington, who is returning Jake Browning under center for head coach Chris Petersen. Texas A&M is in the same conference as Alabama. That’s really all that needs to be said there.

Still, despite the lack of surmountable hype compared to last season, this could still be a tight one, despite the ugliness it could bring overall. The spread is around 3.5 points, which honestly feels about right with this game. There’s more question marks than answers with these clubs.

But, in the end, UCLA does just enough offensively at home to start the season at 1-0.

Prediction: UCLA – 26, Texas A&M – 20
