Chicago White Sox: Carson Fulmer

The White Sox have made it through the 2017 season better than any of the other rebuilding teams in the league. They added more top prospects at the deadline by moving Jose Quintana, Todd Frazier, Tommy Kahnle and David Robertson. Most of the MLB-ready prospects they acquired last offseason and this summer — think Yoan Moncada, Lucas Giolito and Reynaldo Lopez — have already made their debuts with the White Sox. The others — Eloy Jimenez, Michael Kopech, Dane Dunning, Blake Rutherford and Dylan Cease — are still at least a year away.

There is no real case for pushing Kopech up to make at least one MLB start at the end of the year after his Triple-A season ends. The big right-hander has rocketed up the farm system and already doubled his career-high total innings. No reason to push him farther while starting his service clock.

Eloy Jimenez has also continued to mash after his promotion to Double-A. He has hit .347/.373/.612 since moving up to Birmingham. As with Kopech — no need for the White Sox to rush the 20-year-old slugger.

Now ranked 11th overall in the White Sox system, Carson Fulmer made a spot start in July. While it did not go well (he gave up six runs and two home runs in 1.1 innings), Fulmer remains a promising prospect. He’s as ready for the big leagues as he’ll ever be. Fulmer may wind up in the bullpen in the future, but for now all that matters is the White Sox continuing to get looks at him against MLB hitters.
