A day without Twitch is a day filled with Twitter angst.
If you’re into streaming video games or watching other people do the same, Aug. 30. 2017 was not a good day. Why? Because Twitch was down. Like all day.
Yes, the popular streaming platform had an extended period of downtime that threw large chunks of the streaming community for an unpleasant loop. As VentureBeat reported, not everyone experienced problems, but they were widespread and even spilled over to the Twitch app.
There are other ways to stream, of course, including YouTube Gaming, and some streamers made do with those options. Others, however, filled our lives with laughs by taking to Twitter, the de facto first choice for angst about stuff that’s not working correctly.

Luckily, Twitch service was restored by the time of this article, so all was right with the world, right streamers?

Yep, that’s more like it. During the outage, people suggested things like singing, painting and other hobbies to get them through the dark times. Those are all good suggestions and probably good things to keep in mind all the time, not just when Twitch is down. You know, just as a change of pace.
The last time Twitch was hit with a serious outage was earlier this year when Amazon Web Services was hit with technical issues. There doesn’t seem to be any problem with AWS this time around as that would affect many other companies and platforms, but it will be interesting to see what Twitch has to say once it’s all said and done.
In the meantime, keep a cool head next time you can’t get a stream going, and if things are all messed up, please head directly to Twitter so we can at least all get some laughs out of our shared misfortune.
