Steph Curry donates $118,000 for Hurricane Harvey relief efforts

Golden State Warriors superstar Steph Curry rains threes in an effort to help Houston during the horrific storm.
In the midst of Hurricane Harvey in Houston, there has been a plethora of athletes donating to help relief efforts. Two-time MVP and two-time NBA champion Stephen Curry is the latest to pitch in.
Well, $118,000 is a little more than just pitching in.
The three-point shooting magician attempted 25 jumpers from distance. Each made basket was worth $1,000 toward relief efforts.
To no surprise, Curry made 18 three-pointers, which is good for 72 percent.
Houston Texans superstar defensive end J.J. Watt personally donated $100,000 and his fund has donated over $12 million.
Often times as a society we’re removed from the reality of what’s going on in the world. However, during times like this, we’re reminded of how important coming together truly is. Houston has been a great example of just that.

Also, when our country goes through natural disasters such as this, the sports world never disappoints. Sports is one of those things that helps us free our minds from the negative things going on. Nonetheless, athletes are not shy about speaking out and offering help during these times.
Notable names such as Chris Paul, Mike Trout, Ezekiel Elliott and Leonard Fournette have donated. Even Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones donated $1.1 million.
Citizens throughout the country have gone down to Houston to help those needs in needs, while others have donated as much as they can. It’s important for the youth to see the athletes they look up to display a great show of care and class.
Sure, it’s fun watching Curry drain threes against opponents all year long, but what he’s doing off the court is even more impressive — along with all the other athletes that have donated.
