The month of September is officially here, which means college football is in full swing. Games already began at the end of August, but the best has yet to come, especially for the major opening weekend of head-to-head matchups. While this one won’t qualify as a marquee content, Auburn will take to the field to face Georgia Southern.
Auburn enters the 2017 season at No. 12. They’ll be led by quarterback Jarrett Stidham, who transferred from Baylor’s controversial football program. Stidham is only a sophomore, but didn’t play in 2016, due to transfer rules making him sit out the season.
When Stidham last played in 2015, he finished his season with breakout performances. All three games he started saw him throw for at least 250 yards. The first of them was for over 400 yards.

Offensive lineman Braden Smith is is a preseason All-SEC First Team member, and will lead the charge for Pettway to get open spaces in the middle of the field.
For Georgia Southern, Shai Ward will start at quarterback. It will be his college football debut, as he leads a team that will be heavy underdogs on Saturday evening.
