In a game that should get out of hand early, the No. 5 Clemson Tigers welcome the Kent State Golden Flashes to town on Saturday, Sept. 2.
Last season, the Clemson Tigers accomplished something that many believed would be impossible. Going up against the favored Alabama Crimson Tide in the College Football Playoff National Championship Game, the Tigers pulled off the upset, winning the game on a late touchdown. Most of that championship offense is gone, but there is enough talent remaining to make another run.
On Saturday, the Tigers welcome the Kent State Golden Flashes to Memorial Stadium, it what should be a bloodbath. While the Kent State program is very disciplined, they just do not have the talent to hang with the Tigers for more than a few series. Clemson sill be looking to get a long look at new quarterback Kelly Bryant, who is replacing a legend in Deshaun Watson under center.

The defense for Clemson boasts two of the best defensive linemen in the country, which should make this a very long day for Kent State. Dexter Lawrence and Christian Wilkins are a big reason why many believe that the Tigers will rule the ACC again in 2017, and possibly make it to the College Football Playoff. They have a long road ahead of them, but Saturday should serve as a nice tipping off point to what should be a very good season for the Tigers.
Prior to Saturday’s game, the Clemson Tigers will have their 2016 National Championship celebration.
