Florida State quarterback Deondre Francois left their season opener in the fourth quarter after a big blow to the back of the legs, having to be helped off.
One of the biggest things working to the detriment of the Florida State Seminoles a season ago was how they unintentionally treated then redshirt freshman quarterback Deondre Francois. Despite him displaying immense toughness, he simply was beat up a year ago. Subsequently, the hope was that would be fixed coming into 2017.
Unfortunately, the always dangerous Alabama Crimson Tide proved otherwise. They pressured and put heat on Francois all night long on Saturday in their season-opener in Atlanta. Late in the fourth quarter with the Noles looking to hunt down a comeback, though, disaster seemingly struck for the FSU quarterback.
With pressure again getting after him, Francois flushed out to his right. However, the missile-like Ronnie Harrison was in pursuit and dove after him to take down the quarterback. In doing so, though, he hit the quarterback in the back of the legs, bringing him to the ground in a ton of pain. So much pain that he couldn’t get up on his own accord:
Trainers came out to attend to Francois, who remained on the ground for some time before being helped off. While doing so, he was putting no weight on his left leg. It’s early, but it looked quite bad at the moment of impact. And him coming off the field the way he did only furthered those feelings.

After going to the sidelines, Francois went into the tent and then emerged on crutches where he was put onto a cart and taken to the locker room. Again, these are all bad signs, unfortunately. We’ll keep you updated as to the quarterback’s status moving forward.
