Georgia Bulldogs starting quarterback Jacob Eason injures his left knee after being pushed while out of bounds versus the Appalachian State Mountaineers.

The Georgia Bulldogs are hosting a giant killer on the 10th anniversary of the most special day in Appalachian State Mountaineers football history. Appalachian State, who beat the Michigan Wolverines in the Big House in Week 1 in 2007, injured Georgia starting quarterback on this late hit out of bounds.

Appalachian State was playing great defense against the former five-star signal caller from Lake Stevens, Washington. Eason could not get comfortable in the pocket and had to scramble out of bounds. He was hit very late on the play, resulting in him twisting his knee near the sidelines.

Eason would have to go to the Georgia locker room to have his leg examined. He was able to walk into the bowels of Sanford Stadium in Athens on his own power, but did so with a slow gait. Replacing Eason under center is true freshman Jake Fromm.

Fromm is no slouch, as he was a former four-star recruit out of Warner Robins, Georgia. He was heavily recruited by Georgia head coach Kirby Smart when he was the defensive coordinator for Nick Saban with the Alabama Crimson Tide. Fromm switched his commitment from Alabama to Georgia when Smart was hired to replace Mark Richt in Athens.

Eason has the powerful right arm, but has struggled with his accuracy and touch in his first year with the Bulldogs in 2016. Fromm has a bit more touch as a passer. For those familiar with Georgia quarterbacking history, Eason is to Matthew Stafford as Fromm is to Aaron Murray. Or at least, that’s the comparable collegiate prototypes.

Georgia should be alright against Appalachian State with Fromm under center, but you hate to see a gifted quarterback like Eason have to leave the game due to injury. Hopefully it isn’t anything too serious for him.
