Alabama Football: Christian Miller expected to miss entire season
Alabama was dealt a major blow after an otherwise positive night following their victory over Florida State.
Alabama Crimson Tide linebacker Christian Miller is out for the season after tearing his bicep in the team’s victory over the No. 3 Florida State Seminoles, according to Matt Zemitz of Al.com.
Miller is a redshirt junior who starts for the Tide, so his loss will be instantly felt. Miller was one of four Alabama linebackers to sustain injuries in the team’s season opener. In addition, Tyrell Lewis, a sophomore, tore a ligament in his elbow and has been ruled out for the entire season, per Zenits. Lewis was supposed to be one of Alabama’s best defensive players coming into this season.
Also, Rashaan Evans missed the second half due to a groin injury and Anfernee Jennings, starting outside linebacker, left the game with a sprained ankle. Lewis is scheduled to undergo surgery on Tuesday. Both Lewis and Miller should be granted medical redshirts, giving them another year of eligibility.
It is unclear who can fill the hole that may be left by Evans. Christopher Allen, a true freshman, and Jamey Mosley, a former walk-on, will likely get chances to prove themselves. No matter what, Alabama’s depth at the linebacker position will surely be tested in the coming weeks.
Finally, safety Hootie Jones suffered a shoulder injury, as well.

Alabama holds aspirations of winning the College Football Playoff, but these injuries will surely hurt their chances. They came into the season ranked first in the country and played impressively against the Seminoles. However, their defense lifted them to victory by only allowing seven points, and it is unclear whether they can sustain that quality of play without Miller and company.
These injuries definitely cast a shadow on what was an otherwise exciting night for fans of the Crimson Tide.
