Wet weather didn’t deter Alexander Rossi from winning the Grand Prix at the Glen. Here are the complete results for the IndyCar race at Watkins Glen.

A wet Watkins Glen track didn’t rain on Alexander Rossi’s parade, as he earned his second Verizon IndyCar Series victory in Sunday’s Grand Prix at the Glen through a combination of both speed and some bad luck that turned to good luck.

Rossi started the Grand Prix at the Glen up front, but lost the top spot early to Helio Castroneves. He reclaimed the lead on pit road, lost it again when a damaged fuel hose forced him to make a green flag stop, and gained it back thanks to a timely yellow caused by teammate Takuma Sato.

Technical gremlins bit some drivers early, knocking James Hinchcliffe out of the race on Lap 5 and hurting Indy 500 winner Sato on Lap 15. Sato also caused the race’s third caution on Lap 28 as he lost control of the No. 26, yet that spin allowed Rossi to get the lead for the third and final time, so it worked out overall for the Andretti Autosport team.

But the biggest wreck was with the championship leader. Josef Newgarden saw himself hit the pit lane wall and then be hit by Sebastien Bourdais after he locked up exiting the pits. Newgarden had to stop three times to repair crash damage, the third with just seven laps left. He’d come home 18th out of 21 cars.

Newgarden’s accident plus a runner-up finish for Scott Dixon means that Newgarden has just a three-point lead going into the IndyCar season finale, after coming into the Grand Prix at the Glen with more than 30.

Below are the complete Grand Prix at the Glen results:
