By Adam Stocker
The Saskatchewan Roughriders host the Winnipeg Blue Bombers at Mosaic Stadium on Sunday, Sept. 3. Here’s all the info you need to watch.
Labor Day weekend in the CFL means two things, the halfway point of the regular season and rivalry games. The Saskatchewan Roughriders host their neighboring rivalries the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. After winning three of their past four games, the Riders have climbed back into the playoff picture, sitting two points behind the BC Lions with two games in hand. Winnipeg enters the game as the hottest team in the CFL, winning five straight games. The Bombers are second in the West, one point behind Calgary.
Offensively, Winnipeg is one of the best teams in the league. The Bombers have scored at least 33 points in eight of their nine games. Quarterback Matt Nichols is playing like a Most Outstanding Player candidate, while Andrew Harris is on pace to become the league’s first 1000 yard rusher and receiver in the same season. Defensively, Winnipeg has allowed the second most points in the league but led the league in interceptions in forced fumbles.

Saskatchewan is finally playing like the team fans expected when they hired Chris Jones away from the Edmonton Eskimos after winning the Grey Cup. Over the past two games, the Riders have scored 95 points. Quarterback Kevin Glenn has been excellent in the past two games, helping the Riders get out to big first half leads. Running back Cameron Marshall has been a threat running the ball and catching the ball out of the backup. Marshall has 209 yards and three touchdowns over the past two games. Defensively, Saskatchewan has improved significantly this season, allowing 25.3 points per game, the second best mark in the league.
