48. Brian Roberts, PG, Olympiacos

Here’s a familiar face for NBA fans. Roberts is a five-year NBA veteran, spending time with the Pelicans, Hornets and Blazers as a reserve guard. Unable to locate a full-time NBA gig this summer, Roberts became a key part of the European offseason, signing with Euroleague runners-up Olympiacos in Greece.

His NBA career was never much to celebrate, as he fit the role of capable backup guard without much fanfare. The most memorable Roberts moment might be the time he was blown to pieces by a Dejuan Blair screen. Across the Atlantic, however, he instantly becomes a pivotal piece on a title contender. Olympiacos struggled to score last season, especially when star Vassilis Spanoulis was on the bench. Enter Roberts, a capable 3-point shooter, steady hand and intelligent team defender who will likely carry second units for the Red Army.

Olympiacos is a deep team (five players made this list), but a lot of their ceiling rests with Roberts and how well he’s able to carry the mantle when their aging star is off the floor. His transition to the European game at 31 should be a fascinating one that could swing the title chase.
