Louisville Cardinals 1-0

Last week: Won 35-28 over Purdue
Last rank: 3

With a lot of movement in the power rankings this week, the Louisville Cardinals actually find themselves a spot lower even with a win under their belt from Saturday.

The Cardinals won a close 35-28 game against Purdue, which likely shouldn’t have happened if you saw the matchup beforehand on paper. Louisville was down multiple times late in the game, and barely squeaked out the win against a team that went 3-9 last year. Mix in some serious movement between the best of the best in the ACC, and Louisville is going to have to show a lot more in the next few weeks if they want the top spot in the conference.

Florida State Seminoles 0-1

Last week: Lost 24-7 to Alabama
Last rank: 1

This one, along with the next ranking, may be a bold decision to make, but it just feels right considering how Florida State’s night went on Saturday in Atlanta against Alabama.

Between their offensive struggles and their inability to have any consistency on special teams, Florida State fell apart in every area but their defense on Saturday night. As if that wasn’t enough, they saw Deondre Francois go down with a knee injury late in the game that took him out of action, and will take him out of the Seminoles’ lineup for the rest of the season.

Combine that was a strong performance from the new number two team, and the Seminoles are in trouble in the power rankings.
