Miami Hurricanes 1-0

Last week: Won 41-13 over Bethune-Cookman
Last rank: 4

This may be a bit too drastic of a jump, and probably an overreaction to everything that happened to Florida State in that battle with Alabama, but the Miami Hurricanes have emerged as one of the top teams in the ACC, and jump to the second spot this week.

The team pulled off a huge 41-13 rout in an easy game against Bethune-Cookman, which shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone. However, with the current state of Florida State’s offense, especially with the injury to Deondre Francois, Miami now could see themselves as one of the top teams in the ACC for the rest of the year.

Clemson Tigers 1-0

Last week: Won 56-3 over Kent State
Last rank: 2

Clemson had themselves a solid week as far as power rankings are concerned, as they pulled out an easy win against Kent State that saw them in complete control the entire time as they rolled to a 56-3 victory.

Add in the struggles that Florida State on Saturday night in their game with Alabama, and Clemson easily took over the top spot in the conference. They have a big jump ahead of the competition now that Florida State has a loss under their belt, and we could see the whole conference and possible playoff contention come down to their battle towards the end of the year in November.

For now, the Tigers have the top spot, and I don’t see them letting up anytime soon.
