Loser: Florida Gators (No. 17 down to No. 22)

Conversely, Florida had an ugly showing in Week 1. Michigan had question marks as it was forced to replace over a dozen starters from last year’s team, but Florida had suspension concerns and uncertainty surrounding the quarterback position.

Freshman Feleipe Franks began the game as the starter, but he didn’t show much. He completed 5-of-9 passes for 75 yards and gave way to Notre Dame transfer Malik Zaire. He finished 9-of-17 for 109 yards, but the offense failed to reach the end zone.

In fact, both of Florida’s touchdowns were on interception returns and the Gators’ offense had zero production outside of a field goal on the opening drive to take an early lead. This team needs to figure out its offense, and fast. The Gators’ schedule isn’t going to get any easier once SEC play begins.

Jim McElwain has plenty to be concerned about, but mostly the concerns are on offense. This team needs to find a quarterback to settle on and establish a run game. Can the Gators get back into the top 20 soon?
