10. Oklahoma State Cowboys

Ranking coming into Week 1: No. 10

If you’re looking for a Heisman Trophy pick that’s not Sam Darnold or Saquon Barkley this season, Oklahoma State quarterback Mason Rudolph might be one of the best sleeper options available.

Rudolph and the Cowboys got off to a huge start in their 59-24 win over Tulsa in Week 1. Rudolph completed 20 of his 24 pass attempts for 303 yards and four touchdowns, including two of them to No. 1 wide receiving option James Washington.

Washington caught six balls for 145 yards and the two scores from Rudolph against the Golden Hurricane, who were really out of it after the first quarter. The Cowboys scored three times in the opening frame and although it’s only early September, they looked like a team that could challenge for a playoff spot in a really competitive Big XII Conference this season.

Despite trips to Texas and West Virginia later in the year, the Pokes get the Bedlam game at home this season. If they can pass their road tests against the Longhorns, who lost to Maryland this past weekend, and the Mountaineers, they get their dreaded in-state rivals at home with a potential Big XII title on the line.

It’s a long season, but this is definitely a team to keep an eye on moving forward this year.
