Cavaliers guard Isaiah Thomas is seeking a new agent to guide him through free agency next offseason.
It’s been a few weeks of shock for Isaiah Thomas.
The new Cleveland Cavaliers guard has had to try and recover not only from injury but from the shock of being traded from the Boston Celtics to LeBron James and the Cavs. To say that Thomas, who has emerged as one of the league’s premier scoring guards, may be a little shaken by the recent events is an understatement.
So, he’s looking forward to the 2018 offseason, and he isn’t going into what promises to be a huge payday with the same agent he has now.
According to ESPN’s Chris Haynes, Thomas is leaving his current management company, Excel Sports Management, and is looking for a new agent to guide him into free agency next year.

While many may not see this as big news, it’s worth watching for the simple reason that he may not stay in Cleveland past this season. Thomas wasn’t too thrilled with leaving Boston, a city that allowed him to grow from a volume scorer on bad teams to the centerpiece of an up-and-coming Celtic team.
Now in Cleveland, he won’t be looked at as “The Man” anymore, but as the sidekick to one of the best players in the world, the main reason why the player he replaced, Kyrie Irving, was so adamant to leave.
He seemed comfortable being “The Man,” the one who got the glory (and the shot attempts). That will be no more come this season, which could be driving his desire to dangle his feet in the free agent waters next offseason.

Time will tell if Thomas and LeBron can work, but don’t be surprised if he has a new home city soon.
