The Cleveland Browns might be looking at some time without No. 1 pick Myles Garrett

This week the 2017 NFL season is officially getting underway and, what do you know, there’s some terrible news surrounding the Cleveland Browns. On Wednesday, news came down that the No. 1 overall pick from Texas A&M had suffered an ankle injury that forced him to leave the practice field, leaving Cleveland fans holding their breath.

Now word is starting to trickle out as to just how severe the injury to the former five-star recruit may be, and it’s less than promising. As Garrett gets set for testing on the ankle, Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com is now reporting that the team fears the injury could end up sidelining him for “weeks,” effectively putting his NFL regular season debut on hold for a bit.

Initially when the injury occurred on Wednesday the fear was simply that he would miss the opening game on Sunday against the Pittsburgh Steelers, but now it appears things are headed down a much, much worse direction. But, again, this is the Browns we’re talking about, so does anything really go according to plan — like, ever?

Ankle injuries, unfortunately, are not anything new for Garrett. He dealt with ankle injuries during his stellar career at Texas A&M, so this is something that the Browns could have foreseen coming in a way from the moment they drafted him after the evaluations.

Right now, again, this is just the report on how much time Garrett will miss to begin the season, as he still does have some testing to undergo which of course includes an MRI. When more does officially become available on the condition of Garrett, we will be sure to keep you updated on the status of the No. 1 overall pick.
