Start: Jamison Crowder

Despite their best efforts to fix the cornerback position over the summer, the Eagles are still left with a brand new starter in Ronald Darby, but not much behind him. Second round pick Sidney Jones won’t be ready until late in the year, if at all in 2017, and third-rounder Rasul Douglas hasn’t done enough to earn a starting gig yet. Last year’s seventh round pick will start opposite Darby, likely leaving Patrick Robinson to man the slot – a man who’s been cut three times in three seasons – and attempt to slow down Crowder.

While Terrelle Pryor should develop into the main target in Washington, don’t be shocked if quarterback Cousins looks to a player he knows and has already developed a rapport with on Sunday when the Eagles come to town. Under defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz, Philadelphia likes to bring the heat, and “Captain Kirk” could go in the direction of his shifty receiver in the middle of the field.

There’s also a possibility second-year receiver Josh Doctson either doesn’t play, or isn’t at full health in this game after missing the final preseason matchup, so Crowder could see even more work. The Eagles were in the middle of the pack last season in both run and pass defense, but the secondary is still their weakness. Crowder and Cousins might exploit it.
