Fantasy football Week 1 rankings: Who to start and sit
Start: Todd Gurley
Where do you side on the Todd Gurley argument? Is he the next Trent Richardson, slowly but surely descending after an exciting first year? Or was he simply held back by Jeff Fisher’s impotent offense and now ready to explode under Sean McVay? Either way, he has a juicy matchup in Week 1 against an Indianapolis defense that was the NFL’s third-worst in 2016.
McVay ran a high-flying, exciting, touchdown-scoring offense in Washington, and he should bring that to Los Angeles as he’s already brought in some extremely exciting weapons in the passing game. Robert Woods, Sammy Watkins, Cooper Kupp, Gerald Everett and the rest of the additions will allow Jared Goff to show steady improvement, and might just stop opposing defenses keying in on Gurley.
In the preseason, Gurley came out flying in Week 2, looking great on his eight carries (38 yards, 4.8 yards per carry and a touchdown). When he was rested for Week 3, backup Malcolm Brown boasted a healthy 4.9 yards per carry (9-44), and gives us more hope that both the offensive line and the attack as a whole will be much improved.
Make sure you start your Rams against Indy, as they can take advantage of a struggling team and turn some heads on Sunday.
