The challenge for Andy Reid’s team is simple. Can his defense stifle Tom Brady and company and his team, which led the NFL with 33 takeaways in 2016, force the Pats into some costly mistakes? It’s worth noting that New England and Atlanta were tied with a league-low 11 turnovers this past regular season.

By the way, this marks the fourth time that the Patriots will host the Thursday night season opener. The team defeated the Indianapolis Colts in 2004, the Oakland Raiders in ’05 and the Pittsburgh Steelers two years ago. Both the Chiefs and Patriots have already has to deal with costly losses this offseason due to knee injuries. A little over a week ago on the same evening, Kansas City lost starting running back Spencer Ware. Meanwhile, New England watched wide receiver Julian Edelman go down for the year. It will be intriguing to see how these two quality head coaches adjust this season.
