Child wants to throw first pitch at every MLB ballpark with her 3D printed hand

Seven-year-old Hailey Dawson wants to throw out the first pitch at every single Major League baseball stadium with her 3D printed hand.

Throwing out the first pitch for a Major League Baseball game is an honor that not many people can say they have had and seven-year-old Hailey Dawson wants that honor — at every single MLB ballpark. The kicker? Dawson wants to do it using her 3D printed hand.

Dawson was born with a rare condition that caused her right hand to have only two fingers. Due to the advancements in medical science, Dawson was given a specially designed SD hand which is held together using fishing line. She can control the fingers using her wrist.

She is able to use the hand to write and even taught herself how to throw a baseball — which is where she came up with the idea of throwing out the first pitch and setting a Guinness World Record for most first pitches.

Along the way, Dawson has collected autographs from players including Bryce Harper of the Washington Nationals.

She has already thrown out the first pitch for the Baltimore Orioles and the Washington Nationals. She has just 28 more teams to go and just over two months left of the 2017 MLB season.

In order for Dawson to accomplish this, she would visit 17 states plus Washington D.C and Toronto, Canada. She would spend the most time in California as it is home to a whopping five MLB teams (San Diego Padres, Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, Los Angeles Dodgers, San Francisco Giants and Oakland A’s). No other US state has more than two teams.

The next closest event to Dawson’s was when actor Will Ferrell traveled from team to team to play every position in one day. The hilarious results were recorded for a documentary that aired on HBO. He played for 10 teams in one day.
