Who said Alex Smith can’t throw down the field?
The Kansas City Chiefs now officially have three drives of 90 or more yards against the Patriots. They had one such drive all of last season.
This drive was capped off by a 78-yard touchdown grab by rookie running back Kareem Hunt, and gave the Chiefs a 28-27 lead in the fourth quarter. Hunt’s touchdown was the second touchdown of 75 plus yards by the Chiefs offense tonight.
It’s official, Alex Smith is not ready to lose his job, and scientists have confirmed he can throw the ball down the field. Forget the fact that the throw was down the field; how about the fact that this was a total dime by Smith.
Chiefs fans have definitely forgotten all about Hunt’s fumble on the Chiefs first offensive snap of the game. The rookie has absolutely shined on the games biggest stage.

Hunt is approaching 200 yards of total offense in his first career game, and if not for the injury to Spencer Ware in the preseason, he wouldn’t even be starting tonight.
On the other hand, how about Alex Smith? The Chiefs drafted former Texas Tech gunslinger Patrick Mahomes to eventually replace Smith, but he’s completely shredding this Patriots defense.
The Patriots have only lost two games in the Tom Brady era when leading at halftime. The Patriots led 17-14 at halftime. There may or may not be some nervous fans in New England at the moment.
Who would have thought the Chiefs would walk into New England on the night they raise their fifth banner, and go toe-to-toe with the defending champions. You have to give them a ton of credit with the effort they’ve put forth tonight. Especially after it looked like they were going to get blown out early.
