College Football Picks Against The Spread September 8
I was a bit under average in the opening weekend of the college football season. Starting in the hole is nothing new. I have done that for four straight years now. Week 1 is the hardest to pick. By week two, we have a pretty good idea of what to expect from most teams.

For those of you that are new here, I put myself out there every week. For the last six years, I have picked every single college football game. Sounds easy, right? I thought so too. So I have picked them all against the spread. That significantly increases the degree of difficulty.
I take the average of the odds from the six major Vegas casinos and round that to the nearest half point. There will be no ties here. Ties are for the other football.
Some site will sell you top ten picks for a fee. Some will even give you a couple of free picks to lure you in. This is every game picked, all for free.
This contains the picks for FBS vs. FBS games only. It is too hard to get an accurate spread on games that involve 1-AA teams.
I will assign a point value “bet” on each game, between one and five points. That way you can see just how confident I am in each pick. Look for those at the end of each line. I am down 43 points over the last two seasons, but I fully plan to be back to even before the end of of September.
This is for entertainment purposes only! I cannot be responsible for you losing any of your worldly possessions, significant others, or limbs to a loan shark. I am a simple person. I cannot have that on my conscience.
We have 76 games this weekend, but only 51 of them are FBS vs. FBS matchups. There were only three scheduled for today, but the Memphis at Central Florida game has already been canceled. Several other games this weekend are already canceled, postponed, or facing cancellation because of natural disasters. Mother nature took one game last weekend. This one is even worse!
(11)Oklahoma State(-28.5) at South Alabama(2): A mostly discombobulated Ole Miss offense nearly covered the Jaguars by this. South Alabama has been markedly better at home throughout their first couple of years at the FBS level, but they have never seen a team like this come through Mobile. This was a well oiled machine against Tulsa in week one. I’m not sure USA is that much better. I have to go with Oklahoma State here.
Ohio at Purdue(-3.5)(5): I do realize that Ohio blew out Hampton. They should get credit for that, but not this much. Purdue put a scare into Louisville, and made them work for it. Lamar Jackson had to work for every yard, and he won the Heisman last year. This is a solid Purdue D, and the offense wasn’t terrible. David Blough is the one that provoked Danny Etling to transfer to the Bayou. Purdue wins this by at least a touchdown.
Memphis at Central Florida(-3.5): Unfortunately, this one was canceled due to Hurricane Irma because this was more easy money. The line was moving upwards, but not enough for me to reconsider wagering the max on this. UCF looked really good in the opener, and Memphis did not. I am disappointed to see all of these cancellations. I do realize that it’s hard to get everything lined up in college to get the game played, but why not move it back a day, or ahead a couple of days? Or take the MLB approach and move it to a different city?
