Week 2 of the college football season is almost here so that means it’s time for us to pick some winners for the week’s biggest and most important games.
The first week of the season was headlined by the titanic matchup between No. 1 Alabama defeating No. 3 Florida State from Atlanta’s Mercedes-Benz Stadium. It was billed as a potential College Football Playoff preview, but it didn’t quite live up to the hype when the second half started. The Crimson Tide did what they do in the second half and they took their game to another level and extinguished any hope from the Seminoles of staging a comeback. Alabama outscored Florida State 14-0 in the second half that was dominated by defense and special teams.
For Week 2, we get another game pitting a pair of top-5 teams against one another and it’s a rematch from last year. No. 5 Oklahoma travels to Columbus where they’ll take on J.T. Barrett, J.K. Dobbins and the No. 2 Buckeyes from the Horseshoe on Saturday night. That’s the game of the week that also features another non-conference rematch from last year, a potential Pac-12 Championship Game preview, a classic rivalry game in the Keystone State and a rematch of the 1981 Sugar Bowl that saw Georgia win their last national title against Notre Dame.
Before getting into this week’s fab five games that we’ll pick winners for, let’s take a second to revisit the picks me and fellow college football editor, Jack Jorgensen, made last week.
Schmidt: Michigan, Alabama, Virginia Tech, UCLA, Tennessee
Jorgensen: Michigan, Florida State, West Virginia, UCLA, Tennessee
Record: Schmidt: 5-0, Jorgensen: 3-2

Next: Lessons learned from every Top 25 team in Week 1
We agree on the two games that are the “easiest” games to predict with Penn State and Georgia, but that’s where the agreements end. Jack is going bold, picking three road upsets, so if those come to fruition, I’m going to have to ask what else he sees in his crystal ball.
Who do you have winning the week’s biggest games? Do you think I’ll have a better record this week or will Jack’s upset picks come through? Am I soft for going chalk? Don’t be shy, let us know in the comments and on social media.
