We’re getting closer to seeing the Washington Redskins play host to the Philadelphia Eagles. Which team will prevail in this NFC East rivalry?
Are the Philadelphia Eagles primed to go from last to first in the NFC East this season? If Doug Pederson’s club is going to make the move from the basement to the top floor of the division, a road win over the Washington Redskins would make for quite the good start.
Then again, that’s going to be easier than done if recent history is any indication. Jay Gruden’s club has won the last five encounters in this series. Washington is coming off back-to-back winning campaigns for the first time since the 1996 and ’97 seasons. Meanwhile, the Eagles look to snap a seven-game road losing streak that dates back to last season.
Odds
Line: Redskins (-2.5)
Over/Under: 47.5
Although the opening line for this longtime NFC East series is a modest 2.5 points (thanks to the folks at SportsBook Review), the over/under for this contest is very intriguing. You may recall that last season’s wins by the Redskins were by 27-20 and 27-22 scores.

Something to keep an eye on here is the Philadelphia Eagles’ offensive front, led by bookend tackles Jason Peters and Zane Johnson. The Washington Redskins put a lot of money and a first-round draft choice into revamping their defensive front. Additions such as Stacy McGee and Terrell McClain and rookie Jonathan Allen need to be up to the task when it comes to slowing down the Eagles’ ground attack.
The feeling here is that they will and force Wentz to throw a little more than he wants to. But expect another nail biter in this always-interesting rivalry.
Pick: Redskins 24, Eagles 20
