With Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series drivers down to their last shot at making the 2017 playoffs, you won’t want to miss the action this weekend from Richmond Raceway.

Desperation time has arrived, and it’s settled in at Richmond.

A total of 13 NASCAR Cup Series drivers are locked into the playoffs by virtue of their race wins. Three others are looking pretty good on points as long as no one else wins the Federated Auto Parts 400 on Saturday night.

Naturally, that means that everyone else wants desperately to win so they can make it in.

Next: Who has a realistic shot at winning Richmond to make the playoffs?

Among other things, it could be the final meaningful Cup Series race for Dale Earnhardt Jr., who currently would not be in the playoff field without a victory at Richmond. Can you imagine what the scene will be like if he somehow pulls it off?

And while it’s not quite as down to the wire for the NASCAR XFINITY Series drivers, it’s pretty close. The Virginia529 College Savings 250 is the second to last race for those drivers to try to secure a playoff spot, with only Chicagoland still remaining in the regular season.
