Lamar Jackson showed everyone once again why he is the Heisman Trophy winner against North Carolina on Saturday
For some reason or another, as the college football season was approaching and the preseason Heisman talk was heating up, one name that you did not hear as much as you thought you would was that of Louisville quarterback — and reigning Heisman winner — Lamar Jackson. Well, slowly but surely here early in the season, those people who were omitting his name in those talks are looking mighty stupid.
Louisville is taking on North Carolina Saturday in Week 2 action, and in the second quarter of this ACC game, Lamar Jackson did a very Lamar Jackson thing.
North Carolina brought the pressure to Jackson, but of course, he was able to elude it because he’s a video game on the field. From there, he was able to find Jaylen Smith down the field for what would turn out to be a 75-yard scoring play.

And that right there, folks, is why this young man was able to win the coveted trophy so easily last season, and also why he might be able to do it again this year.
Last week in the season-opening win over Purdue, Jackson was out of his mind once again and he’s picking up right where he left off here on Saturday. This North Carolina defense has no answer for what Jackson can do on the field thus far, but that’s not really something to be ashamed of because not many defenses in the country do.
If this keeps up this afternoon, then heading into Week 3 Jackson will be right at the top of everyone’s Heisman lists — probably where he should have been to start the season anyway.
