Cole Beasley is your first candidate for catch of the year, using his nameplate to haul in a huge drive extending catch.
The Dallas Cowboys offense, nationally, is Dak Prescott and Zeke Elliott. They make up the one-two punch that helped the team win 13-games last year and return the swagger that had been missing in the latter half of the Romo era.
But Cole Beasley is sneaky. He’s the guy who pops up when he’s needed and makes a great play to help keep things flowing. He’s not a Dez Bryant-level superstar, rather he’s more like that guy you see in a bunch of movies but don’t know his name. But you know him when you see him.
That’s what we got a pretty dope dose of on Sunday night. Beasley turned in a jaw-dropping catch that involved a spin and his nameplate.
What?
Cue the ‘COLE BEASLEY JUST MADE THE CATCH OF THE YEAR’ and ‘THIS COLE BEASLEY CATCH IS EVERYTHING’ headlines. It was a phenomenal catch, but let’s breathe and remember we’re in Week 1 of the NFL season. It could be the catch of the year, but there’s a lot of football left to be played.
Maybe it was the absence of Odell Beckham Jr that made us want to believe this was the catch of the year. Oh, who are we kidding — it’s the catch of the year.

The real story here is that Odell Beckham was in the building when an amazing, mind-numbing catch was made. This clearly makes him some sort of wizard.
