It was a wild Week 2 in college football, but how will the college football rankings and the AP Poll be affected? A look at the Week 3 AP Poll.

Though there were a number of great games in the opening full weekend of college football, it paled in comparison to the Week 2 slate. With a buffet of highly ranked opponents squaring off, it was one big clash after another on Saturday, especially in the evening. As such, the rankings were sure to get shuffled in a big way when it comes to the Week 3 AP Poll.

Obviously the biggest outcome of the day was the Oklahoma Sooners toppling the Ohio State Buckeyes. Not only was this the No. 2 team being taken down by No. 5, but it was done in relatively emphatic fashion as Baker Mayfield and company were fantastic throughout the matchup to get the win.

Also dominant were the USC Trojans. After suffering an upset scare against Western Michigan in their opener, they took on a stout Stanford Cardinal team. Sam Darnold and company looked much more like the team that we’d thought they’d be in this one as they pulled away for a big double-digit lead.

Not winning big was the Clemson Tigers, but they took part in a hard-nosed game against the Auburn Tigers and prevailed, 14-6. Also close as it pertains to ranked teams facing off was the Georgia Bulldogs win over the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. It was also a gritty game, but the Dawgs got the big win.

Obviously all of this was going to shake up the Week 3 AP Poll, so let’s take a look at how it did:

11. Florida State
12. LSU
13. Georgia
14. Louisville
15. Auburn
16. Virginia Tech
17. Miami (FL)
18. Kansas State
19. Stanford
20. TCU
21. Washington State
22. South Florida
23. Tennessee
24. Florida
25. UCLA

There is no doubt about the fact that the College Football Playoff picture has now been altered. And if the first two weeks are any indication of what else lies ahead in 2017, we could be in for a wild season of college football.
