No. 15: Virginia Tech Hokies (2-0)

Ranking coming into Week 2: No. 18

It wasn’t pretty by any means, but a shutout is a shutout and the Hokies are 2-0 this season. Josh Jackson came off his big performance against West Virginia last week and threw for 222 yards and two touchdowns in the 27-0 win for Virginia Tech.

No. 14: Louisville Cardinals (2-0)

Ranking coming into Week 2: No. 17

Archie Griffin is the only two-time winner of the Heisman Trophy, but that could change this coming December. That’s how good Lamar Jackson has been already. He’s got an uphill battle having already won the award during a record-setting year last season, but he’s going to be in the hunt if he continues to put up numbers like he did against North Carolina.

No. 13: Georgia Bulldogs (2-0)

Ranking coming into Week 2: No. 15

How about those Dawgs? In their first ever trip to South Bend to face Notre Dame on Saturday night, Georgia’s defense came up clutch throughout the night with their speed and quickness and made the plays they needed to for a 20-19 nail-biting victory over the Irish, who rushed 37 times for just 55 yards against the Bulldogs. That’s a good win for Kirby Smart’s bunch.

No. 12: LSU Tigers (2-0)

Ranking coming into Week 2: No. 12

Do you think the Bayou misses Leonard Fournette? Well, when you have Derrius Guice taking over in the role Fournette left, the void doesn’t feel so big. Guice ran for 102 yards on just 15 carries and two touchdowns in the Tigers’ 45-10 romp over Chattanooga.

No. 11: Oklahoma State Cowboys (2-0)

Ranking coming into Week 2: No. 11

Is this finally the year that Oklahoma State avenges that finish to the 2011 season when they were just one win away from a national title game? As good as Mason Rudolph and the Pokes look on offense so far this season, it just might be. Still, there’s a long way to go, but it could finally happen.
