The Colts and Rams went to battle in Los Angeles on Sunday afternoon, and it turned into a bit of a blowout. Here are some of the highlights.

The Indianapolis Colts had a ton of doubts under center heading into their season opener with the Los Angeles Rams, and it looks like all of the questions were completely justified as they struggled to get anything going on offense in L.A.

The Rams pulled off a huge win in front of the hometown crowd, succeeding on both offense and defense to get things going for the team early and often. They dominated throughout, and finished with a 46-9 win over the Colts to start the year.

There wasn’t much to smile about for the Colts, and the only real positive to come out of the day was the debut of Jacoby Brissett under center from the team in place of Scott Tolzien after the Colts traded for Brissett from the New England Patriots a little over a week ago.

While there aren’t many highlights for the Colts, there are a ton to look at for the Rams, which you can watch below:

Three Stars

1. Jared Goff

The second-year quarterback for the Rams looked very good at home, and it looks like Goff has matured well as he enters a new season with some new weapons in the lineup. He threw for over 300 yards and a touchdown in the dominant win, and looked really strong and a lot more confident in the backfield for the Rams than he did as a rookie.

2. Cooper Kupp

The rookie receiver looks like he’ll be a solid target for Goff to work with this season, and he proved why he could be a worthwhile addition to the receiving rotation for the Rams immediately. He scored a big touchdown to help make it a three possession game in Los Angeles, and was the top receiver for Goff throughout the day with four receptions for 76 yards. If he can keep up the pace, he’ll be a name to watch this season for the Rams.

3. Jacoby Brissett

I felt bad that the Colts didn’t have a very good day offensively, and at least they had a positive when they brought in Brissett under center to replace Tolzien, and they got their first touchdown of the day two plays later. To go full spin zone on this, he even saved a potential touchdown for the Rams when he recovered a fumble in the end zone to give up a safety instead. He’s a scoring machine, just sometimes it goes for the other team.

Odds

The Rams were favored -4, according to SportsBook Review, heading into Sunday’s game with the Colts, and it looks like the books got it right for this week, as the Rams more than covered their half of the bargain in the win.

Next Week

The Colts will get a chance to redeem themselves at home against the Arizona Cardinals next week, while the Rams will look to continue their momentum against the Washington Redskins at home next week.
