As you look to enter FanDuel NFL contests for Week 1, here’s a lineup to consider deploying.
The 2017 NFL fantasy football and daily fantasy football season is started this week with a Thursday night game between the Kansas City Chiefs and the New England Patriots.
That game has been played by the time you’re reading this, so I’m leaving all Chiefs and Patriots out of my FanDuel lineup this week. As you’re probably aware, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Miami Dolphins will not be playing this week due to Hurricane Irma, so Jameis Winston, Jay Ajayi, DeVante Parker and others are not usable even if they may technically still be listed (hopefully not by this point in time).
So here’s my FanDuel lineup for Week 1, including the Sunday night game and the two Monday night games, which I’m actually using myself in a contest.
Quarterback: Sam Bradford, Minnesota Vikings-$7,000
Teddy Bridgewater’s injury put Bradford into a tough situation last year when the Vikings acquired him a little over a week before Week 1. But he did about as well as could be expected in his 15 starts, setting a career-high with 3,877 passing yards while setting a league record for completion percentage (71.6 percent).
In Week 1, Bradford gets a very nice matchup. The New Orleans Saints allowed the sixth-most fantasy points to quarterbacks last season (18.3 per game; ESPN scoring), including over 300 passing yards and/or multiple passing touchdowns in six of eight road games. And now cornerback Delvin Breaux will be out with a broken leg, leaving a vulnerable secondary even more so.
Quarterback is a deep position you can generally save salary on in DFS. Bradford has nice upside for Week 1, and he’s a clear choice for me in a virtually fail-safe matchup.
