Through the first 13 games of the NFL season, let’s take a look at what each division looks like through the first week of the year. It was an exciting one.

Week 1 of the 2017 NFL season didn’t disappoint. There were a few stories we didn’t see coming. Who saw the Los Angeles Rams destroying the Indianapolis Colts that badly in late afternoon? We knew that the Jacksonville Jaguars would be better defensively, but sacking the Houston Texans 10 times was unbelievable.

Then there was the big one. Did you really think the New England Patriots were going to lose their home opener to the Kansas City Chiefs? Even the Chicago Bears took the defending NFC champion Atlanta Falcons down to the final play.

Here are what the NFL standings look like through the Sunday slate of Week 1.

AFC East

  1. Buffalo Bills (1-0)
  2. Miami Dolphins (0-0)
  3. New England Patriots (0-0)
  4. New York Jets (0-1)

New England lost a tough one at home on Thursday night to Kansas City. Buffalo took care of business by beating division rival New York at home. Miami did not play in Week 1 due to Hurricane Irma wreaking havoc in South Florida.

AFC North

  1. Baltimore Ravens (1-0)
  2. Pittsburgh Steelers (1-0)
  3. Cincinnati Bengals (0-1)
  4. Cleveland Browns (0-1)

We had a pair of AFC North rivalry games on early Sunday afternoon. The two teams that have won Super Bowl won games over the two teams from Ohio on the road this week. Pittsburgh handled Cleveland, while Baltimore shut out Cincinnati.

AFC South

  1. Jacksonville Jaguars (1-0)
  2. Houston Texans (0-1)
  3. Indianapolis Colts (0-1)
  4. Tennessee Titans (0-1)

Unless you cheer for a team from North Florida, it was a no good, very bad week in the AFC South. The Jaguars obliterated the Texans in Houston. Tennessee couldn’t do much of anything offensively at home against Oakland. Indianapolis might as well have not made the trip to Los Angeles. The Rams at them alive at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum.

AFC West

  1. Kansas City Chiefs (1-0)
  2. Oakland Raiders (1-0)
  3. Denver Broncos (0-0)*
  4. Los Angeles Chargers (0-0)*

Kansas City shocked the football world with its huge win up in Foxborough over New England on Thursday night. Oakland had excellent field goal kicking to win a tough one on the road in Nashville over the Titans. Denver and Los Angeles will play the second game of Monday night at Mile High Stadium.

As strange as it sounds, here would be your six AFC playoff teams if the season ended today: Baltimore, Buffalo, Jacksonville, Kansas City, Oakland and Pittsburgh. Three definitely belong there. A fourth, possibly. Which two don’t belong? Hmm….

NFC East

  1. Dallas Cowboys (1-0)
  2. Philadelphia Eagles (1-0)
  3. New York Giants (0-1)
  4. Washington Redskins (0-1)

There were two games during Week 1 between NFC East rivals. Dallas would take control of their Sunday Night Football game with the Giants from the start. Philadelphia would outlast Washington to start the year off on the right foot.

NFC North

  1. Detroit Lions (1-0)
  2. Green Bay Packers (1-0)
  3. Minnesota Vikings (0-0)*
  4. Chicago Bears (0-1)

A pair of NFC North teams were victorious on Sunday, but all three that played looked good. Detroit manhandled Arizona at Ford Field. Green Bay came alive in the second half to stifle Seattle. Even the Bears hung in there with an opportunity to beat the Falcons in Week 1 at home. Minnesota hosts the Saints in the first game on Monday night.

NFC South

  1. Atlanta Falcons (1-0)
  2. Carolina Panthers (1-0)
  3. New Orleans Saints (0-0)*
  4. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (0-0)

Atlanta survived a way too close game in Chicago against a Bears team that may not be horrible this year. Carolina bulldozed the 49ers in Santa Clara. Maybe Kyle Shanahan shouldn’t have left the ATL for the Bay Area. Tampa Bay didn’t play because of Hurricane Irma. New Orleans plays the Vikings in Minneapolis on Monday night.

NFC West

  1. Los Angeles Rams (1-0)
  2. Arizona Cardinals (0-1)
  3. San Francisco 49ers (0-1)
  4. Seattle Seahawks (0-1)

Unless you’re 30-year-old head coach, it was not a good day to be a team in the NFC West. Sean McVay’s Rams were able to squash a Colts team that had no Luck. Arizona looked old against the Lions in Motown. San Francisco was outclassed at home against the Panthers. Seattle had no offense against the Packers in Lambeau.

Seven teams in the NFC won on Sunday: Atlanta, Carolina, Dallas, Detroit, Green Bay, Los Angeles and Philadelphia. Two still play on Monday night and Tampa Bay will have to wait a week to get back on the gridiron.
